Massage therapy has been used by many cultures for hundreds of years. There are tremendous benefits to be gained through regular massage therapy treatments from a trained therapist. Whether it is for relaxation, to reduce muscle tension or for relief from chronic pain, a massage can enhance your emotional and physical well-being.

Massage Therapy is incredibly effective as part of a preventative care programme. This includes sports training, injury prevention and ongoing stress management. Together with your therapist, you can develop a treatment plan based on your needs.

The Three Main Techniques of Massage Therapy


Consists of stroking methods, which can be done with varied pressure. This technique is used to improve the circulation and warm up the area before deeper massage begins. It is also used at the end of deep massage work to flush out any toxins released during treatment.


Consists of kneading deeper tissues to increase relaxation and stretch muscle fibres.





Is an even deeper technique and is used for separating muscle fibres and working on areas of particular tension, where lactic acid has built up, causing painful ‘knots’ to form.


We understand that each client is an individual, with different needs. Therefore, each therapy session is unique to you. At Avenue Health our highly qualified massage therapists have trained in a variety of disciplines allowing them to tailor your massage session to suit you.

Full Body Massage – 1 hour 

A deeply relaxing massage which works the entire body from the scalp down to the toes, specifically targeting areas where the body may hold tension.

Our therapists use classic Swedish massage techniques to release tension and stress which leaves you completely relaxed yet invigorated.

This massage uses oils selected for your individual needs.

Upper Body – 45 minutes 

An upper body massage concentrates on the muscle groups in your upper body.

It starts by massaging the pressure points on the face and scalp to completely relax you before working down to the shoulders, back, arms and hands providing you with a relaxing but stimulating massage.

Lower Body – 45 minutes 

Massage therapy

This is the perfect massage for those of you that find yourself on your feet all day, participate in sports or dancing.

The massage starts on the upper legs using classic Swedish massage techniques to warm up the area before working more deeply on problem areas such as the hamstrings, quadriceps and calf muscles.

It finishes with a relaxing foot massage.


Back – 45 minutes 

One of our most popular massages designed to help you cope with everyday stresses and strains. Many of us hold tension in our upper back, shoulders, lower back / lumbar region and buttocks / gluteals.

Our therapists will use deep tissue massage techniques to alleviate / release tight muscles leaving you feeling completely calm and relaxed.

I have found the staff and treatment that I have received from Avenue Health to be immensely beneficial to a lower back condition that will never go away. It can only progressively get worse. The Clinical Massage I receive every 3 weeks helps me to keep mobile and enjoy the activities I do. I would highly recommend the services of this practice.

Head, Neck & Shoulders – 45 minutes 

Massage therapy

This is a wonderfully relaxing massage targeting the areas of the body that commonly hold tension which can lead to headaches and stiffness in the upper back.

The therapists work on pressure points on the face, working through the scalp and then down to the neck and shoulders, using as much pressure as is suitable for you.

This massage uses oils selected for your individual needs.

Clinical – 1 hour 

Clinical massage is a technique that concentrates on specific painful areas of the body using techniques from both sports and Eastern massage therapies. The aim is to reduce pain until it is fully resolved or has been reduced to a manageable level.

It is not as intensive as a sports massage but more specific than a relaxing one.

A package of 6 treatments is recommended where the 6th one is free.

Sports Massage – 1 hour/ 45 minutes


Leg massage

A Sports massage is an ideal way to treat injuries and as a preventative treatment dealing with the health of muscle and connective tissue, range of movement, balance of muscles and quality of posture. It can be beneficial for those who are not from a sporting background as well.

Indian Head Massage- 45 minutes 

Indian head massage is based on the ayurvedic system of healing which has been practiced in India for over a thousand years. It involves massage to the head, face, upper back, shoulders, arms and hands that relieve tension in the muscles; it can be relaxing, stimulating and invigorating.
